§ 10-39. Amendment to appendix A of the International Building Code.

  • Appendix A to the International Building Code is hereby amended to read as follows:

    Section A101.1, building official or code enforcer qualifications.

    The code enforcer, also referred to in the code as the building official, shall be registered as a code enforcer with the state. In addition, the code enforcer shall have one or all of the following qualifications:

    (a)

    The code enforcer shall have at least six (6) months experience as an architect, engineer, inspector, contractor, or construction superintendent, or combination of any in this subsecton.

    (b)

    The code enforcer should also seek to be certified through an industry-accepted certification program.

    Section A101.2, inspectors' qualifications.

    Any code enforcement assistant or inspector shall hold, or be able to obtain within six months from employment a certification as electrical, plumbing, building, building rehabilitation, mechanical, structural, health, or fire life safety inspector or building plans reviewer.

    (a)

    A code enforcer or assistant inspector shall have at least six months experience, as an architect, engineer, building inspector, contractor, superintendent, or foreman in any one of the building or code enforcement trades.
